Accredited tests in high pressure hydrogen

At the end of 2022, a new test method focusing on the fracture behaviour of metallic materials in a high-pressure gas environment was accredited at the MMV Laboratories as part of a regular CIA surveillance visit in accordance with the following standards:

  • ČSN EN ISO 11114-4, Methods B and C,
  • ASME BVPC, Sect. VIII-part 3, KD-10,
  • ASTM E1681.
The accreditation is a logical outcome of the long-term systematic work of MMV in the field of research and development of test methods in high-pressure hydrogen gas environment. In addition to the accredited test procedures, the laboratories offer other tests aimed at assessing the effect of hydrogen embrittlement, namely fatigue testing, fatigue crack propagation rate or in-situ tensile testing in a high-pressure hydrogen environment, or exposure testing of loaded specimens up to 30 MPa. All tests are performed in patented 0.55L hydrogen autoclaves designed and manufactured by MMV, which can be incorporated into a servohydraulic testing machine.
